I've used this twice since I've purchased it, though I foresee many days it will come out this summer. The first time I used it was on a calm day, the second on a windy day. Very easy and quick to set up and take down in both conditions. Lightweight enough for me to take on <7 mile day trips, hard to fit into my little jansport backpack though. In the wind it fell down once before my friends and I figured how to shore it up, you fill find out too! But with the wind blowing against the back it seemed to provide even more shade than in calm conditions. It provides just enough shade for me and two to three other people. Any more than four and we'd be packed in pretty tight. I'd guess if some of those people were children you could fit as many as advertised under it. When used with just two people it is just the right amount of luxurious shade on a sunny day. I have mostly rocky beaches here and it works well with rocks just fine. I would keep it away from any driftwood, I accidentally ran the fabric edge against some driftwood and it chewed up the stitching on the end a little, but seems fine. I don't think it's the sort of device people expect to see on a PNW beach so I've gotten allot of comments and I am sure to share that the pink flamingo design was chosen after one of my favorite films of the same name. The shelter makes a great base for a long day combing the beaches for agats, spotting birds, dipping in the cold cold water, or just straight chilling on the beach, but is portable enough to shift locations at a whim. Would recommend for people who spend allot of time on the beach. If you're only going to use this once or twice a year, save yourself some money and just get some sunscreen (which you had ought to be using anyways because melanoma is no joke.)
I packed the Neso Grande in my checked luggage from Dallas to Anna Maria Island. Great sun tent! I bought the extra poles so we would have more head clearance and they were fine until the wind picked up then only two poles was best. The sand bag anchors worked really well. You can get a lot of sand in those things! Set up and tear down was smooth and easy for one person even on my windy day. The camo print was a good visual marker for the kids to spot among other red and blue tents.
We took our toddler to the beach and our grande Neso is super light and easy to setup a nice big shaded area to protect our little guy and us from the sun. With the stakes and extra poles we plan to use this for sports, camping, and anything else outside where we need shade! The grande is perfect for 3-4 if you have some space to stretch it out and anchor it.
